Peer Review 3

Hello everyone! This is my peer review for the website florajiali.com

I will be delving into how marketability is shown and can be used in her website. The moment I entered the website, I was instantly greeted by an adorable emoticon that welcomed me to the site, while clearly stating what the website is all about. It is a website that focuses on all aspects of Kpop, which is short for Korean pop music. The layout is wonderful, with a scrapbook-like theme to it. Different little sections are pasted onto a colourful pastel background. These include lists of the types of content on the website, and high-resolution pictures that display a wide variety of kpop idols, albums, and merch. There is even a video included, which makes the whole page even better!

Another feature that I really liked was a section on the bottom that had links to her social media pages so that her readers can continue to follow her content beyond just this website. This is an excellent example of transmedia integration, and is key to communicating with viewers, since they can get a glimpse of what the content is like through different channels. According to kevinbrittanylauren.wordpress.com, Henry Jenkins highlights the importance of this concept in his blogs. According to him, “transmedia storytelling is a process. Elements of a fiction get dispersed across multiple media for the purpose of creating a coordinated entertainment experience.” By linking her other online presences, she can enhance her viewer’s understanding and connection to the blog.

On the side, there is a handlebar that shows different sections of her content, all of which have been neatly organized into categories and sub-categories. It is also well-equipped with accessibility tools located to the left side, so as to not compete for space with the handlebar. The actual content itself is divided into blog posts and process posts. Every single blog post is an album review, and every week she focuses on a new one. Every single track is listed out with a short description below it. In my personal opinion, the descriptions are a little bit too short, but it is understandable since they are songs. A little Spotify preview of each track is also available for the viewers to listen to, which I thought was an awesome feature. This way, viewers can listen while reading and are provided with an immersive experience on her website.

Flora does a very good job at targeting her intended audience. She integrates the usage of her personal Spotify into the website, which can target music lovers who probably use Spotify. However, I used the link to view her Instagram and did not end up seeing her website being promoted anywhere on her account. It could really benefit from the exposure and lead people to her site. She seems to have a lot of followers, so putting her website on to her bio would be a great start to attracting even more viewers than she already has. Good job on your website Flora!
