Peer Review 1

Hello! This is my peer review for the website thatshrimpdude.com

I will be focusing on the topic of development of the online self. When I first entered the website, I was met with a large header that made it very clear as to what this blog is about. (“Blog on building connections”) Additionally, there are several cool accessibility features built in, such as dark mode and the date and time being displayed at the very top. Accessibility features are extremely important as they can ensure inclusivity to all potential viewers of one’s website. According to the Accessible Publishing Learning Network, “ Ensuring that your website is accessible is a great way to guarantee that all your online visitors feel welcomed and respected. As a bonus, an accessible website often ranks higher in SEO because the structure is easier for search engines to crawl.”

The content of the posts are a little bit all over the place, but I suppose that building connections is something that happens all over the place. Some of the content is about the author’s work, some of it is about political activities, and other posts are about job hunting/personal life. They might seem like separate topics, but they all tie in together quite nicely. The posts are of an appropriate length and the formatting is decent too. One aspect that could be worked on is the design of the site. There are very few photos, and there isn’t much of a layout on the home page. The navigation is fine, as there is a handlebar above the blogs that showcase different pages.

Another aspect that could be worked on is the fact that there are no other forms of social media attached to this website. According to one of the posts, there is actually a YouTube and TikTok account affiliated with this website, but besides for the post mentioning it, there are no other links or info about them. The posts did a good job of incorporating the class lectures and reading materials into the content. I’m not sure if the blog will continue to update in the future, but if so, continuing to blog about the current topics would be a great idea. The website has already established its own niche, so continuing forward with it shouldn’t be a problem. Overall, it was a very interesting and well-written website, with some very insightful topics being discussed. Good job!
